Bijli Mahadev Temple

बिजली महादेव मंदिर - जैसा कि नाम से ही मालूम चलता है , यह स्थान महादेव के लिए प्रसिध है । ऐसा माना जाता है की यहाँ हर साल में एक बार आकाशीय बिजली गिरती है जो कि शिवलिंग को खंडित करती है । हर बार टूटने के बाद इसको घी / माखन से जोड़ा जाता है । कुल्लू से यह मंदिर 14 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर समुद्र तल से 2,435 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित हैं मंदिर को वास्तुकला का अनूठा नमूना माना जाता है।

प्रवेश द्वार के भीतर की दीवारों तथा लकड़ी पर पुरातन चित्रकला की गई है। भगवान श्रीकृष्ण की जीवनी अति सुन्दर सूंदर ढंग से चित्रित है। मंदिर के खम्बों पर कोबरा सांप के चित्र हैं। मंदिर के भीतर गर्भगृह में चमत्कारी एवं विशाल शिवलिंग में सदा मक्खन और सतु लिपटे देखे जा सकते हैं। धारणा हैं कि यह शिवलिंग प्रति वर्ष या कभी दो वर्ष में आसामानी बिजली से टूट कर इसके टुकड़े दूर-दूर तक गिर जाते हैं।

बाद में मंदिर का पुजारी इसकी सुचना गांवों लोगों दे देता है और शीघ्र ही मक्खन और सतु से शिवलिंग को ढक लिया जाता है। मान्यता है कि जब बिजली गिरती है तो शिव भगवान उसके तीव्र वेग को अपने ऊपर समेट लेते हैं जिससे गांव की रक्षा हो जाती है।

Peoples of Himachal Pradesh & Kullu district keep a Great faith on Bijli Mahadev. Also this is near to Bhunter airport so common access point for travellers in this valley. Every person visiting kullu Valley will definitely like to visit this temple once. There are new plantations of Devdar tree recently done to enhance the beauty of this place, otherwise near temple there are no trees. However while reaching here on the way you will see a lot of Big Kial (kyal) trees.

Bijli Mahadev is one of the sacred temples of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is located at an altitude of about 2,438 m in the Kullu Valley. Bijli Mahadev is one of the excellent temples in India. Located 10 km from Kullu across the Beas river, it can be approached by a rewarding trek of 3 km. A panoramic view of Kullu and Paravati valleys can be seen from the temple. The 60 feet high staff of Bijli Mahadev temple glistens like a silver needle in the sun.

During snow season , this is the nearest place for visitors if they want to have fun with snow. Festivals are also held here on time to time.
